Little Shoe
19th December 2005, 156 g, 21 cm (8.3 "), 5 joints
This is "Little shoe", who is a quite old fellow. Well, to be honest, he is not really old, but gives the impression to have already experienced a lot. He was made of short brown sparce mohair and was filled with sheeps wool and sisal. For this creation I combined a quite modern pattern with some classical features which are his long swung arms, his hunchback and the cardboard in his soles. His joints holding his arms are quite loose. But he has no wobble-neck-joint. The right arm is even more loose than the left one. This comes from his left-handed former owner, who used to take him by his right arm or leg... or ear. And this is the very reason why "Little shoe's" right arm and leg are more tattered then the left ones. There are just a few stitches left, which hold his right ear. He got several olive green wash leather patches to hide smaller holes in his fur and some seams of his were mended with olive green thread. Big wounds are backed by big patches of wash leather lying underneath the worn mohair. Oh, and his filling is of course quite loose in some parts, there you can hear the sisal crackle pressing e.g. his right hand. Once, with his left side, he has fallen into a puddle of tea - you can slightly see the tea stains. His eyes, stitched nose and his claws are tattered, as well. Furthermore his pile seems to be moth-eaten in some places. Additionally he is quite dirty. The reason why he is called "Little shoe", is because he got a bootlace holding his droopy body together (the fake leather mending his wounds also contributes to this idea). Though he can stand very well.
If you don't mind his tattered looks and allow him to capture your heart, you will find that "Little shoe" is a very kind bear, always knowing what you think or what you feel. He will always be a true friend and listen to you!
Now he lives happily with Nicole and four of his brothers and sisters in Grünbach, Austria. There is Gingerbreadbear, Little Tooth Fairy, Little Emperor Dragonfly, Little Snowman and now there is "Little Shoe", too!
