Gingerbreadbear

A grumpy animated movie character in a children's classic inspired me, when I designed "Gingerbreadbear". As a child I always wanted the character to be more friendly, so I invented my own Gingerbreadbear who is not as bad-tempered as his animated colleague. Basically, "Gingerbreadbear" is a mixture of a gingerbreadman and a nutcracker. He is a very unconventional design with wire in his legs and arms. While his legs are not articulated, his arms are still fastened with cotter pin joints. In this way he is able to march and stand properly. The steel granules in his feet help him keeping his balance. Sitting is not his business. Just like many of my designs, he has got articulated wrists and a double head joint in order to make him more lively. By the way, he is filled with sheep's wool. His hands, face and body are needle-sculpted. His shoes and suit are part of his body. Consequently he has got no toes but golden shoe laces and metal eyes at his feet. His body is made of different kinds of short pile mohair fabrics, partly shaved. The red stripes on arms and legs have been potatoe printed on the back of the white mohair fabric in order to create this special look. His hat and shoulder pads are made of felt fabric. The shoulder pads were dyed with the same red dye as the stripes. Golden fringes and white embroidery adorn his shoulder pads. His black hat is decorated with a golden cord. The almods are made of fimo. His black nose is embroidered and waxed. Finally some copic pen shades were applied to his face.

"Gingerbreadbear" is a lovely listener, always waiting calmly for your stories. He loves Christmas, toy railways and going by train. Then he loves to act like a conductor.

Joining his brother "Little Snowman", "Gingerbreadbear" went to live with Nicole in Grünbach, Austria. Now, "Gingerbreadbear" moved to Ricky who lives in the Netherlands.
